Gigabyte GA-P67A-UD4, P67A-UD3R Preview
Manufacturer: Gigabyte
If you have not already heard, Gigabyte's losing its blue.
The colour that defined the company's motherboards for the better part of the last decade has finally caved to the trend of making everything black. It's not just a black PCB though - it's
everything: the PCI slots, the PCI Express slots, the memory sockets, the connectors - the lot.
Both the P67A-UD3R, UD4 and every number iteration above it will have a black PCB. UD2s will stick with the traditional blue.
This is a slightly controversial choice, because on one hand Gigabyte is losing its differentiation: the blue was a brand message, and Gigabyte's giving in to looking like every other board leaves it a little hollow compared to Asus Republic of Gamers, EVGA, or MSI that got there first. On the other hand, six months from now, everyone will have forgotten. Instead, they'll be enjoying the glorious matt black PCBs, which are seriously good looking, and will no doubt continually attract praise.
The new matt black PCB (it's quite difficult to show the effect in photos), and the 'new' LGA1155 socket. Ooo a pin off the corner makes you look so nimble!
